Armadillo Systems are developing a suite of products to allow libraries, archives and museums to take control of their collections and build their own kiosks and websites providing access and interpretation to their collections.
We recognise that building a kiosk application or a microsite for every exhibition or event is a costly exercise, often for only a limited return. We are developing products that empower the institution to build their own, with little or no technical knowledge.
Turning the Pages 2.0 is the first of these products. A winner of many international awards it allows you to easily build a library of interactive books and publish them either online or as a kiosk.
Driven by an easy to use content management system, clients in the UK and elsewhere are using TTP to cost-effectively build engaging and effective libraries.
There is much more about Turning the Pages on it's own website.
In 2009 we will be rolling out an extension to TTP 2.0 that allows you to include books, maps, charters, pictures, letters and even 3D objects to your applications, all, again, driven by a simple content management system. This will truly become an interactive gallery.
As well as providing off the shelf solutions, Armadillo have been building bespoke applications for libraries, museums and archives for the last 12 years. Recent projects have included:
These custom applications include exhibition touchscreen kiosks, rich internet applications, research and discovery tools and repository surfacing.
We have extensive experience in database design and coding as well as a variety of application programming environments, and also interoperability and metadata standards (DCMI, OAI-PMH etc).
Our work has won awards from the International Information Industry (Best User Experience) as well as the British Comuputer Society (Best Web Technology).
